Okay, I couldn't leave you hanging. Rural means country. Not very big towns. Garden City could be considered a rural town.

Dyer (as in Brittany) was spelled correctly.

And sweet and sour sauce IS a condiment. Anything that is a sauce type texture could be considered a condiment. I.e. ranch, marinara sauce, hot sauce, ketchup, mustard.

In the context of Kansas, I don't think Garden would be a rural town. Scott would be.

I think it has alot to do with surroundings. Of course I didn't see the context of the question, so I may be wrong.
