Take a chance on me

Now I'm in Tulsa, hanging out with Shannon and Nicole for a couple days. I got lost a bunch of times driving to their work today to go to lunch with them. Then I kind of missed an important turn after that trying to find a Barnes and Noble. BUT eventually I made it there and spent a long time looking for a new book to read. I didn't really want to do it, but I don't feel I had any other option but to buy the second Twilight book in the series, New Moon.
For dinner tonight we went to a Japanese place and had a bunch of sushi. This one in particular had a lot of those orange fish egg things in it, not a favorite, especially of Nicoles.

Also, on the way down to Tulsa last night (Shannon rode with me and Nicole drove herself from Wichita), Shannon and I listened to about 450 of RTL Top 1000 songs. Which had "Take a Chance on Me" by Abba. I don't believe this is the official video, but it's funnier than the one I think that is.

Andy sings it on one of his favorite episodes of the office, but since I can't find that clip, this one will have to suffice.

Oh crapz

On Memorial Day we had a HUUGE BBQ with way too much food. This was my part, the vegetable shish kabobs, which were very yummy!
Chris and Shannon ate WarHeads...so that...
This whole trip we've played Pandemic alot, which I really enjoy. We've even won a couple times!
Later that day we played Disc Golf at a really nice park in JoCo.
And that night we played a ton of video games, including Street Fighter, Braid, I built an awesome tower on SwimTower, and Peggle, which Shannon and I stayed up til 7
The time spent in KC also included very many trips to HyVee...one trip in particular was especially funny...

Clap Clap Wizards *raise hands*

Saturday Shannon and I went to KC to meet with Nette and Chris and stay at Newgen's. We ate at T-Rex, which was the first time I'd ate under jellyfish and next to Dinosaurs.
After that we went to a Kansas City Wizards soccer game! We sat in the cauldron, which is the fan section, so we cheered like mad futbol fans. SO much fun! Plus we ended up sitting next to Brett and Brian, Coleman's friends, completely by chance which was nuts. Our boys tied the Chivas (who we watched play the Rapids last summer), but we had two players get red-carded, so we held our own pretty well I'd say. My favorite, Wolff who was #16, was the first to be kicked out :(
After the game we went to Steak 'n Shake...I don't know where else you would go after a game. Chris and I got hats. Original Gangsta and Ballin since 1939.
We got some sweet gear from the game.

Summer Songs

Shannon found this song on my iPod on the way to KC. It's "Two Ghosts" by Boy Eats Drum Machine. This is only the song, no video with it.

And Shannon has put this song on the last two cds he's made me, and it's been my favorite both times. It's called "Various Kitchen Utensils" by Skybox. Is this the official video? Hard to say.

Have I found you...

Here's a song for today. "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by Iron and Wine.

Biiiiite?

Baby got her first bath today! It was hot out, too. She better appreciate it.
Kasey and I got together and took Breck to get his first snow cone! It was summer-delicious.
This evening we had a BBQ with the family. Tara and I finally found the secret to making good s'mores on the grill (use utensils--grahms burn quickly on the grate).

Done

Right after I watched Twilight, I became minorly obsessed. I went out the next morning and bought the book. Of course, all my obsessions fade, usually into a bookmark holding my place 30 pages in. However, this one only slowed and I finally finished the book tonight. I don't have to tell you that the movie left out soo much of what the book had. But, movies and books require different moods. I told myself I couldn't watch the movie again until I finished the book. And CHECK. I have plans to go buy it tomorrow :)

Lemon Drop

I'm in Garden for a few days. Today Rhonda, Dave and I watched Slumdog Millionaire (it was alright, I don't know about ALLL the hype). This evening I went to see some friends. Jon D., Jon Urban, Jennifer, Dilly, Steve Shaw, Bobby Beck, Gabe Rifkogel...It was a fun little reunion to see everyone! Oh, and we played four square, elementary school style.

やった!

I am done with Japanese forever! So I made a shirt to commemorate such an epic final. Nakamura Sensei seemed to enjoy it :)

Boondock Saints

What a good movie!! I've tried watching it in the past a couple times, but I finally watched the whole thing--and totally worth it. And now I'm looking into studying abroad in Ireland. Coincidence?...

The majestic polar bear

Yesterday was a great summer day. Kerri and I went to breakfast at Early Edition to start it off.

Then I had work. But THEN I had the greatest idea I've had all summer. We made ourselves a swing at the neighbors!
Dave Hale's twin Dan came to visit from Tennessee. He's way more quiet than our own Dave.
We also side-walk chalked, because what is a summer party without it? Brad Gober (Theresa's son) and his roommate Drew came over and helped out. As you can read, we don't like the lakers.
It was a really fun night...All the neighbors will be graduating this weekend. I am going to miss those boys...
<3 Rick, Evan (who's moving to GC!), Dave, and Jason.

Kick it off--Pomp and Cataclysm

Saturday night we kept on kicking off summer with a party at Moro Lounge--courtesy of Ranger and his roommates. The theme was post-apocalyptic, and that apparently sparked the Spartan in Coleman.

We hooked Sara and Scott up too, and it's been magic ever since :) For pretty much everyone involved.

Saturday we had the end of the year Tap Ensemble BBQ. A few tears were shed for the graduating seniors, Annie Tipton and Jennifer Grantman.

Seven Pounds

I've sort of started up a movie night at the apartment here, usually with a few hockey guys and Sara. So far our repertoire includes American History X, Fight Club, Snakes On a Plane, Shawshank Redemption, and tonight with Seven Pounds.

Good movie, kind of what I expected, but at the same time not. I enjoyed it. It was just Geoff, Sara, and me tonight. I suspect with finals creeping up on everyone who isn't already turning it in for summer, it can be a stressful and busy time.

Afterward I dropped Geoffrey off and called Brad Gober for the first time ever. We got Sonic drinks and enjoyed the GORGEOUS night at City Park on the new jungle gym--which is so sick. It was an enjoyable evening.
