One to go

I finished Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince! Last night, I read over 200 pages to ensure I wouldn't lose the bet to Zach at work that was whoever didn't have it finished by the time we work together today would owe the other $5. Holy crap, it was intense too. I've never told a book to "Shut UP" as many times as I did until 4 am when it was finally over. Now I've just got to finish the 7th before it gets ruined for me like this 6th did. It'll be a challenge, but the worst that will happen is someone tells me and I literally punch them in the face. I know I'm a lot of talk, but...Seriously. Bows will fly if this gets ruined.

Oh, so I'm off to my last day at Target/Starbucks today! Excited? Yes.
Maybe a wee bit sad? Heck no. I'll just miss the boys is all,
but they have t/m so I'm not too worried about anything at this point.

Happy Birthday Stana Banana!

What a hottie!
We went to the Sin Bin (Bahaha) for Stana's 20th birthday tonight! I thought it was going to suck, and really it started out that way, but I won't lie to you. It was pretty fun. And it made it 10 times better to see Stana have so much fun and dance the whole night away.
What a freakin trooper. I didn't know she had so much flava in her!

Negative sleep=excessive posts

Let me kick it off by bringing up the obvious issue tonight. Kanye, what's with this Mr. West bs? I know Diddy paved the way for artists to change their names to the point of no recognition, but, come on, he's Diddy. It's a shame too, I used to be all kinds of tight with Kanye, but now...
...it feels like I don't even know him anymore.
Plus, I had a teacher in 7th grade named Mr. West, and he was more hip hop than you'll ever be.
Moving right along.
Heck freaking yes. I always knew this song ("Love Today" by Mika) was a feel-good song but WOW it's got a feel-good video to go right along with it! I don't know if it's the variety in colors of Lycra or his green jeans but whatever it is, it's golden.

In other household news, I'm in the process of making popsicles. In the process meaning, they aren't quite frozen enough yet (note the picture below).
They are Watermelon Cherry, and I made one iced tea one because I got curious.
I've started watching the OC series again. I just finished first season today, and started second. I'm sure it will contribute to me getting many of the things I actually need to do this summer done in a timely manner...but it'd just been too long for me and Seth Cohen here.

In case you're wondering the status of our relationship, yes I am still very much in love with Boys Like Girls. Their video just came on MTV and it rekindled the fire. However, my heart is still a bit broken from the incident at warped tour. I don't think they meant it though, so it's not like we're breaking up or anything.

Needless to say, I'm having a hard time falling asleep tonight. Summer is a beautiful thing.

Six afraid of Seven

There's an internal conflict going on here. I bought the seventh and final Harry Potter book at the midnight release a couple nights back, but I have yet to finish the sixth.

I'm not drop-out-of-ninth-grade bad at reading, but I am pretty slow compared to all of my friends who have already finished the complete series. A couple times. So rather than reading, I get frustrated and blog about it instead. My biggest fear is that this one will get ruined for me the way the sixth did. If that happens, throats will get kicked.

Chelsey had a pool party today! I am pooped...a little bit of running, changing into the pjs and chillin for the rest of the night sounds like a good plan.

Finale

Last night was the release of the seventh and final Harry Potter book, so Meredith, Stana, Erica and I went to Dillons to get our copies. I realize it probably wasn't as hip-happenin as Hastings but as Meredith is banned from said music and entertainment store, we went with her to Dillons. I don't want you to get the wrong idea, I'm only on the 75th page of the sixth book, I just wanted to be a part of the midnight hustle and bustle. This way I'll be ready for it when I'm done with the sixth.
This evening Kasey and I hung out. She trimmed my hair, we got ice cream, and listened to adorable little Breckin here scream his little heart out. And throw up all his formula...
it was hard to tell which was more charming :) All things considered, he still is really cute .

I can't say I've ever been more excited about 2008.
Want to know why?

Manhattan Summer 07

I'm home! I don't know about you guys, but I could travel all summer. So I went to Manhattan for a bout a week. We went to a Junction City Generals game, where they beat the competition something like 18-1. Let me tell you, it was a nail-biter.
(This was also the game where we first discovered the Fratellis. Sweeet deal.)
After the game they put on an awesome fireworks show.
They next day I went to a shin-dig that Smurthwaite was having for the new girls to get to know everyone. We went to Pillsbury Crossing with Smith House, played Sand volleyball, and had a jolly good time. After the festivities started to die down, I ditched the slumber party and went to hang with the homies at Daylight Donuts where Chris got this monster (it's a two-hander):
Next day we went to McAllisters, a fantastic sandwich and iced tea place...
And apparently a great place to go if you want a baby-sized baked potato.
This is us going on an adventure of sorts...
I was really all about the iced tea all week. We went to Radinas like 3 or 4 times and I got flavors of tea like Pomegranate, passion fruit, and mango. Delicious summer treats!

I keep debating whether I'm excited to move to Manhattan or not. I know I'm not excited for school to start, but that's just because I love summer so darn much!

I Lean like a Cholo

Here's the skinny, I'm currently in Manhattan until next tuesday or wednesday. I have a slumber party at Smurthwaite on saturday, and for the rest of the time I planned on kickin it with the familia. I don't have access to any pictures because I am posting from whatever random laptop I was closest to when I woke up at 1 o'clock this afternoon (I tend to do that when I stay up until 6 am). However, it has come to my attention that I have yet to post about my fabulous and green new phone. This is what it looks like:

(Um, it rocks)

I also must tell you that I went to see Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix on wednesday and it was awesome. Of course they left a lot of what was in the book out of the movie (and I should know, since I just finished reading it last week), but the cinematography was exceptional. Now I'm ready to start reading the sixth (Half-Blood Prince).

In other news, Kasey had her baby boy Breckin Roy on the 3rd (?). I ran into them earlier this week at Target and he is seriously adorable beyond words.
Apparently Kasey and Mark's genes compliment each other quite nicely.
Sarah Williams (Duarte) also had her baby on wednesday! Moses Samuel, I haven't seen him yet but I hear good things. I can't believe how many of my close friends have kids! I guess in a way it's pretty cool though, so far they've all proven to be awesome little kids anyway.

Warped Tour '07!

We were on our way to Colorado! First stop: The Buffalo Bill statue in Oakley.
After getting a little off course in Greeley where we dropped off Jon, we made it to Longmont, watched Stomp the Yard and went straight to sleep.
Day 2 of the journey we went to Water World, aka the Happiest Place on Earth in my book. We had some A&F models behind us in line which was entertaining, and when we got home we passed out because good grief it took everything we had out of us.

The next day we went to Pearl Street with Daddy and Linda,
and didn't leave without our friends Ben or Jerry.
The next day was the big day! Warped Tour...tons of people, hot hot heat (the temp, not the band), but definitely lots of bands to make up for it. We got in the very very front front for Boys Like Girls, the only band I really cared about, but it started raining and lightning!
So we got under a bridge and waited it out.
By the time we got out, we had to be in the very back for BLG...it was sad.
But we slithered our way up to around the middle for the last couple of songs.
After their set, we went to see my friend Isaac.
He's the videographer for the band below, Family Force 5
We waited around until 7:30 to watch them play as the second to last band of the whole day. We got in the very very front front for them and actually stayed there this time, and thank goodness because they made the whole day worth it! They put on the best show I think I have ever seen, and that really isn't an exaggeration. This guy on the left doesn't even play anything, he just danced on stage the whole time! It was fab.
We caught a bus home that night, ate a ton of dinner, and once again, passed out. The next day we got lost like a bizillion times (I don't want to talk about it), picked up Jon, got lost a couple more times, then came home! It was a beautiful thing. And a very beautiful trip.

Thats my hot rod

So everything is starting to get fixed. The new tail light is ordered and should be in on thursday, I'm getting a new phone tomorrow (it's gonna be sweet), and I finished Harry Potter. Can I just say...Meh...I don't know how to feel about it. See, it was really great and I enjoyed until what I thought was supposed to happen in this book didn't. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad it didn't, but it was kind of the same feeling as when you sit through 3 hours of A Streetcar Named Desire and expect everyone to burst out into song at any second and they NEVER DO! But oh well. Now I can start reading the 6th and maybe catch up in time to start the 7th when the rest of the world does. Plus now I can let myself see the movie that's fixin to come out next week!
Rhonda had a terrible day too, so we went to Applebees to dinner, and after lounging for quite some time I feel much better about life.

Kiss of death

So you know how anything that's remotely expensive falls to pieces when I touch it? Yeah, that little quirk of mine is working over time lately. I ordered a new tail light for my car, went and picked it up and it turns out it's the wrong side that they ordered. Adding to my battery dieing and stereo breaking, my car sure is doing a lot to get attention these days. Also, my phone broke today. Just. Died...I mean, I've dropped it before, I don't see why this time was any different. So I have to go get a new one today, because we're leaving thursday for Colorado. I tell you what, for not having to work, go to school, or see a doctor, today has been an exceptionally crappy day.

I do have one shining star though, I must admit...I'm 30 pages away from finishing Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Hmm. HHMMMM.

Kasey was supposed to be induced today, but the doctors couldn't break her so they're giving it another shot tomorrow. What a trooper.
In other news, Sarah is still pregnant, and I've decided to do something summery every day in July. Yesterday it was going to Brooks and Ciara's to play poker,
and drinking blue sonic drinks on the way.
Tonight, Josh and I went on a quest to Hastings to find Corrina, Corrina and lo and behold, we dug through that $5.99 bin and found it gosh darn it! I also picked up Mean Girls because I couldn't pass it up for $4. Anyway, Corrina, Corrina is definitely a summer movie,
so that's my summerness for the evening.

This is sooo EMO!!!

The love of my life came to visit for one day yesterday.
In case you can't tell because of the haircut, that's Adam Brungardt!
He drove 14 hours from Phoenix, AZ to go to a wedding yesterday and to, lets face it,
hang out with me since we haven't seen each other since he moved a year and a half ago.
So we had a bon fire to celebrate our good friend coming home! But not just one good friend came home that day. Along with him came...
Joe Brown!! He lives in Phoenix too and drove with Adam. Both of them, along with Adam's wife and kiddies, are planning on moving up to the KC/Lawrence area within the next year or two,
so you can imagine my excitement. :)
The bon fire was great, there were S'mores and singalongs...
...and more singalongs. At one point cops came and one apparently was pretty bad at math cause when we looked at my ID he informed me "Well, you're just barely 21" and I was like
"Psh, I'm not 21" because honestly, what have I got to hide?
It was pretty amazing that everyone that was underage there hadn't been drinking.
Pretty lucky on their parts actually. I did take my first breathalyzer ever though...
After a long night of singing, eating s'mores, getting sand everywhere, and watching people jump over the fire, we decided that breakfast the next monrning at Hannah's corner was definitely in order. It was Adam, Josh, Stana, and I, and we ended up staying for 2 and a half hours. And then another half hour in the parking lot. When you haven't seen people in over a year,
there's usually a lot of catching up to do. Oh Adam...
