This weekend I went to help Coleman with enrollment, visit Chris and Nette, and see Anthony. Friday night Anthony and I went to a Royals game against the Giants. We lost 4-8, but our seats were two rows above the field. It was fantastic! There was also a fireworks show put on by the people who do the Olympics fireworks. The next day was National Go Out and Skate Day! I finally got to watch him skate, along with about 60 other kids in Topeka. This photo was taken by a guy named Mike that takes pics for them. I went back to Manhattan on sunday to boat down the Kansas River with Chris. We one-oared it...which was one in a series of questionable choices about the adventure. But you know what, even though it took 3 hours, we were both glad we did it. It was very fun :) Next voyage: Getting a real boat and takin it to the Gulf!
I'm home! I don't know about you guys, but I could travel all summer. So I went to Manhattan for a bout a week. We went to a Junction City Generals game, where they beat the competition something like 18-1. Let me tell you, it was a nail-biter. (This was also the game where we first discovered the Fratellis. Sweeet deal.)
After the game they put on an awesome fireworks show.
They next day I went to a shin-dig that Smurthwaite was having for the new girls to get to know everyone. We went to Pillsbury Crossing with Smith House, played Sand volleyball, and had a jolly good time. After the festivities started to die down, I ditched the slumber party and went to hang with the homies at Daylight Donuts where Chris got this monster (it's a two-hander):
Next day we went to McAllisters, a fantastic sandwich and iced tea place... And apparently a great place to go if you want a baby-sized baked potato.
This is us going on an adventure of sorts...
I was really all about the iced tea all week. We went to Radinas like 3 or 4 times and I got flavors of tea like Pomegranate, passion fruit, and mango. Delicious summer treats!
I keep debating whether I'm excited to move to Manhattan or not. I know I'm not excited for school to start, but that's just because I love summer so darn much!
Friday afternoon Rhonda and I went to Manhattan. Straylight Run had a free show on K-State campus...
...so naturally I packed up the fam and we all went. There were complimentary color changing mugs and we got to make our very own candy tubes...
...for free! That's the best kind of candy!
This is pretty much my sister, that's all.
I was leaving my cards all up in that towns grill. This is on the community board at Panera.
While we were at Panera it started raining pitchforks and N-babies. (My grandma said that to me once, so no one can get offended.)
There were really bad storms all around Kansas this weekend. Many of you may have heard of the disaster in Greensburg. 95% of the city was ruined which, I'm sure you can imagine, realllllly sucks. What you probably didn't hear about was all the other places that either had tornados go through, tons of rain, or ridiculous wind damage. There were oodles of telephone poles down on the way home, not to mention all kinds of torn up trees.
Storms picked up while we were driving today and got really bad around Great Bend, so my mom and I stopped at Applebees and ate some cheese dip that we definitely were not hungry for.
Despite crappy travel conditions we made it home safe! Not pictured: *I tried out for KSU's dance team. I didn't make it, but it was pretty fun; especially when me and the other 2 girls I tried out with forgot the jazz and just did random turns and leaps the whole time. *We ate at a top-notch restaraunt called Toto's Tacoz in a nearby town, Wamego. Let me tell you, that Toto makes one phenomenal chicken taco. *I also left my card in an "Outstanding Businesses" stand at the mall. A bunch of companies had their cards in individual slots, so I thought I'd take advantage of one of the empty ones :)
The weekend started on friday when I got out of class. To our pleasure, there wasn't a foot of snow on the ground, so Rhonda and I left town as scheduled. Saturday morning the Kstate hockey team had a game in Kansas City at 8, so we left Manhattan at around 5:30.
Vans feel an awful lot like beds when you're not working with much sleep.
First the team played a local KC team, then they played KSU hockey alumni. They played really well, won the first, lost the second.
We rushed home when the games were done to go to the Japanese festival in the union! We slept through got to watch a tea ceremony, visited a bunch of fun booths, ate green tea ice cream, and...
...Watched a taiko drum group! That was definitley the coolest part.
On sunday I had a clinic for Classy Cats, just to work on technique and learn dances and stuff. It basically sucked, but I was very pleased to see that Lauren Richard, a senior on the high school dance team here in Garden, was there as well! So we were miserable together. Awww :) In the evening, we went to a mongolian bbq place for Netter's birthday since it's today, but we weren't going to be able to celebrate it then. Afterwards we came home, ate dessert, and played "Would you Rather".
Today I had enrollment at Kstate, and it's looking like my fridays are going to be completly open! Gaahhhhh that's freakin exciting. Next weekend: Sleeping. The whole time. Yesssssss....
This last weekend Rhonda and I went to Manhattan because I had interviews at Smurthwaite. We ended up having to leave at 6 in the morning on Saturday due to friday's gay weather. Interviews went well, and we pretty much just hung out the rest of the day. Made our own lotions, went to Cold Stone, and then to Panera... After Panera Shannon and I went to Baskin Robbins. Now, I love me some ice cream...but not that day. So to counter-act the two hits and one day, AND to prevent me from becoming a fattie, Shannon, Nicole, and I ran the Jardine 5. I lost. Bad. There's only 3 weeks until Classy Cat tryouts, so Addison is helping me train. It's pretty fun.
