We had our first weekend tournament in Denver this past Saturday and Sunday. Welp. The boys played really great the first two games, but by the third game in mile-high altitude, they lost a bit of their swagger. I don't think they ever really got it back for the one game on Sunday. So we lost all four, but played really well and I think we have a really strong team for this season.
We have some additional talent on the team we've recently discovered. Joel and Clavin are accomplished guitar players and Nicholas Sardina can not only belt out Counting Crows songs, he writes his own lyrics on the spot. About Wooly Mammoths. Named Franklin. On the way home (on our new BUS the team just bought!) we had a rave, courtesy of Jerry's music picks.
First of all, it was Chris' birthday last Thursday, but my camera died before I could take pictures of him eating ColdStone cake. So this is the card I made for him: We had the K-State Roller Hockey Alumni Game today, not a super great turn out (Shannon, Nicole, and Rhonda couldn't make it up on account of stupid winter storm...along with a few other alum I'm sure). Netter played though, it was Miah's last game for us and it was a good game! I don't remember the final score but it was something like 13-10 us (the current team). All the graduating seniors (Nick Sterlacci, Michael Meier, Kevin Hargadon, and Jeremiah Wood) got plaques, as did Dany Majard for Most Improved, and Clavin for MVP. I believe Jerry made good decisions. So it was a great time, then we went out to Milford lake and had ourselves a little cookout. And of course, a few shenanigans were had.
We had playoffs this weekend, so we left early Saturday morning at 6. It would have been 5:15 if it weren't for another birthday weekend miracle: Western Illinois forfeited both of our last games of the season against each other, so we won that one and didn't have to be to St.L til 2. However, it was supposed to be bad weather the whole way up (and it was) so we still had to allow for time to go 45 on the interstate for a while. So we got there to play the first playoff game against Southern Illinois, and it was looking pretty good for us. They were up I think 2 on us but the boys kept their heads up and scored. So then we were tied 2-2 for a while, and we eventually ended up losing it 3-5. BUT it was really awesome to see our guys play the whole game and not get down once we started to fall behind. It was a very good game.
So once the games were over for the entire weekend at 3, it was party time! We went to a nice Italian restaurant on "The Hill" of St.L called Zia's, where I ordered and shared my first bottle of wine with one of our goalies, Nick Sterlacci. (It was a Riesling, and it wasn't very good :S ) Fun that I could do it in any case. Sunday was going to be Geoff's birthday so while he was hanging out with his family we hopped over to the grocery store behind the hotel and got him an Andes Mint ice cream cake! And from there on the party ensued like it really was the last weekend of the season and we had no games the next morning. From somewhat of a dance party, singalong-ish type thing we had going, it evolved into wrestling to tap out madness. Seriously, like some of these guys were at it so long they looked like they had just got done playing a hockey game. It got pretty intense at times. However, Scott kept his own dance party alive behind the scenes the whooole time. Happy end of hockey/birthday Geoff! Crap, that was a fun trip. Best birthday weekend Ever!
This was our second to last weekend for hockey this season, and we were 2 and 1. Lost to ISU and Truman, BUT we beat SLU! And then we drove around downtown ghetto St. Louis trying to get to the Blues/Predators game. A guy sitting in front of Clavin and me (fate thought our seats should be together apparently) would stand up during the game, people way behind us would yell at him to sit down, and there would be a little verbal brawl. This happened a couple times, and everytime he didn't fail to mention that "This isn't a Rams game! Are you Rams fans? You're Blues fans! Stand up!" Hilarious. And drunk. We also went to White Castle for the first between his 6 mini burgers and Mike and Geoff, they made up for it.
NOW guess what? It's birthday week! Later classes...just kidding.
This weekend we had a tournament down in Denton, Texas. Jenette and I drove to Tulsa on friday, then Shannon and Nicole went to Denton with us the next morning. We lost all four game, but two of them they played really well. New refs and rules probably didn't help much in the way of penalties. But it was a fun weekend...lots of driving though. Scott (one of the forwards) really needs to start flying us out, he has his pilots license.
We had the first tournament of the new semester this weekend. Played Illinois (L 1-6), Missouri S&T's B team (W 4-2), and Washington (L 1-5), but that last game they played really well in.
Miah and Lacey brought their new baby...Johnathen Joseph? He was super-cute and super-asleep the whole time. *Mommy pointed out that maybe I should watch the language a little more on the blog, even though it was a quote from Daniel Tosh, a comedian from Comedy Central. Probably not a horrible idea. Change in title--check*
Ok, bad news first: -The Broncos lost last night to the Chargers 21-52, knocking them out of the playoffs. It's too bad, because I really love them. But it's a little bit ok because atleast Sproles had a good game. -Because my defense crumbled last week, I ended up getting third in our Pirate Islands Fantasy Football league.
Better news and stories: Mommy and I met Netter and Chris in Tulsa and we had our Christmas over the weekend! I feel everyone had a good time, and how could they not?--We went to the Tulsa branch of Casa Bonita! Along with some other great gifts, everyone got together and decided to let me pick out a new camera AND mp3 playa! SO I got the Canon A1100 in a lucious brown: And an 8G Sansa Fuze in light gun metal: We picked up the Fuze in Best Buy on the way home and it's really tight, but the camera is in the mail to Jenette's house. It'll be nice to have a camera again!
Oh yes, we went to watch Shannon and Nicole play hockey on their team down there. It was a pretty good game, until the end of "half time" if you will, when a guy on their team started fighting with the ref. Then it got even better!
This all happened right after the player hit the ref in the head with his stick. It was so stupid but highly entertaining!
I so badly want to break into the childrens literature scene.
My finals are done! I ended up keeping my C in Japanese, and I got a collective 86% on my Kin final, leaving me with an 88%. There was talk of a curve though...I hope Dr. Harms does the right thing.
Last Friday our apt opened our stockings and made gingerbread houses...well, the couples did, Sara, myself, and guest appearance Clavin were judges. Everyone got fun things, but Jim (Kerri's boyfriend) got a punching balloon! All good times until it hit a cup and spilled watered down soda onto my lappy. Luckily they turned it upside down quickly and we left a fan blowing on it for two days. Five days later I turned it back on and it works! Huzzah! And for the folk that didn't get the point of my story, here's a picture of the winning house by Kerri and Jim to hold you over until the next picture. Catch up? Ok! Way way back Clavin and I went to see Casey Donahew at Longhorns, it was such an awesome show!! The team played an all-night tournament in Wichita with an encore by Shannon and Nicole! It was a roller-coaster of super fun and "why was this a good idea?". They played pretty well, better than their somehow 5th out of 8th place though. I don't know if I would necessarily do it again, but something has to keep those boys on their toes. Thanksgiving was a break VERY much needed, atleast in my neck of the woods. This picture essentially was natural until Mommy tweaked it a bit to be more pleasing to the camera's eye. Big time for me, this was the Thanksgiving I got to "be upstairs" with the "big kids". And I made sure the little ankle-biters knew it. Not. Invited. They can't drive Buicks anyway. I danced in WinterDance '08 and girl let me tell you, one of the pieces I was in made front page Collegian! One day of a break after those 4 nights of dress rehearsal and 4 performances, Micheal Wieser and I performed a piece we choreographed together in Student Spotlight to "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap. And with a lot of details left out, here we are now. I need to finish Christmas shopping, and will be going home on Friday. Our family is doing Christmas in Tulsa, I want to go to Denver sometime, go back to Tulsa to hang sometime, and am coming back to Manhattan for New Years in Aggieville with Eve 6!!

Went to a Midnight to Noon hockey tournament today in Wichita with some of the team. Adventures home with Clavin, haven't slept since 1 pm yesterday (totals to about 30 hours of awake time). Going...going...gone to sleep. Fun Weekend!!
WOW. Who else had the best weekend of their year? I certainly did. We left early Saturday morning for St. Louis. Played two games, lost both. BUT THEN, Joel, Nick, Ranger, Tyler, Coleman, Dany, Clavin, and I went to Red Lobster for dinner. Most definitely the best meal with the team I've ever had. Laughter and endless shrimp were flying all over the place. Clavin and I raced to everything that evening--and since it's my blog and I have the final say, I beat him about 90% of the time. Later that night Joel, Dany, and I played pass the pigs to see who had to sleep on the cot in our room. I was the loser, not my night for tossing pigs. Haha and then we layed in the dark and talked. Which was fun.
The next morning we had a 7 am against Missouri State. The boys played hard and better than they had been, but still lost 1-9. Upon returning from lunch for our second game, we stopped in to watch the Truman/Lindonwood game. Thank heavens we decided to do that. Because THIS freakin happened:
It was awesome! Everyone that was out there got kicked out of the game, even Truman's goalie (who is Ben, a guy who played with us last fall,'s brother. His reaction isn't on tape, but he broke his stick. It was fairly impressive). The game went pretty quick after that, with Truman getting mercy ruled.
Everyone seemed to be in excellent moods, so things were looking up for our game against Western Illinois. I'll spare you the details, but we got a lot of our stuff together and did work. And we won!!! 11-6 K-State. I've never seen Clavin smile after a game, until then. Everyone was very happy, as they should be. Let's carry it on into the next weekends now boys! (Can you tell I'm still psyched?) I love this team.
Life is crazy. I can't tell you everything thats been happening, mostly because that would be the longest post. Coleman and I went to a Kstate Texas basketball game during birthday week. We lost, but we did get Beasleys-on-a-stick!
Kerri and Erin made me a princess for my birthday, took me to eat at Willie's and fed me cupcakes
Kerri, Logan, and I saw Roger Creager and Fat Dixie play and went two-steppin...later that night my new friend Antoine and I met up in Paxico :) That whole day was pretty great.
Miah and Lacey got married!
Went to St. Louis for the last hockey tournament and watched a Jr. Blues game.
Dr. Bosco gave me and a couple girls walking home from dance a ride, it was so cool.
Erin and I actually had fun at a house event, scavenger hunting around Manhattan. I know, I had a hard time believing it myself.
Last night the fam, Aaron and his family, and I went to Panera because it was super rainy.
There's been a lot of new house drama, mostly in the loan department, for Chris and Nette. But we think it's almost there.
The best part of the last two weeks? Two nights ago Anthony made me his girlfriend. Anthony...Antoine...Tony...Whatever, he's great. Aaand hella cute :)
We had a hockey tournament in St. Louis this weekend. The shawtys played really well, and although we didn't win any games everyone generally stayed in a good mood and it was a fun weekend! I started going to practices this last Thursday and up until about today I have been really sore. Classes started on Thursday as well...I feel this semester might involve a bunch of reading, but I switched to a different politics class so it will be a little better. I'm taking a History class about Aztecs, Mayas, and Incas with Shannon so that's pretty cool, and Musical Stage Dance which is possibly going to be even cooler than it sounds! Tonight I went to Andrews and a bunch of us played Balderdash. Crap they are still some of the funniest guys I've ever met.
So I've basically lost the heart to post since I lost my camera...anyway, now you know that's why there hasn't been much action. I know how little people like to read about my day versus looking at the picture recount of the day...It's made me pretty emotional :(
Last night Kerri invited me to an Ag Econ bon fire. There was a weenie roast, s'mores, and a guitar playin country singin' cowboy to entertain us. It was pretty cold, but a very fun time so I'm glad we went! (that's Jason, Kerri's friend. She's on a date with him at this very second, in fact)

Because this is a habit I don't know how got formed, but should probably break soon. What the devil...? You may be asking yourself. Not a very long story even shorter, Nick and I have been hanging out the past week, that's all, and surprise surprise, he's not quite over his ex.
I get it, it's ok to not be over it. So don't call me and invite me to do things. Colorado is really gettin the outdoor mall thing down. This place we went to is where the old Denver airport used to be, now it's like a place people in the 50's would make as futuristic. This information board had knobs and flashy lights!
Danny, the frenchman on the team, is practically a walking circus. I walked outside and he had climbed onto this rock, just chillin.
Grandpa, Grandma, and Uncle Randy came to a couple games on Sunday. We all caught up with whats happening in our lives, I took pics with everyone...
And gave Uncle Randy a tattoo! Sometimes it's like I never grew up from being 10. Shane and I hot tubbed Sunday morning, before his friend Tim picked us up, and after we went to The Cheesecake Factory in downtown Denver with him. This cheesecake was yummy, just look at their faces!
Monday we were gonna go home, but we stopped off in Stapleton in their outdoor mall. This was at Bass Pro Shop, which is an AMAZING store by the way. Chris is a natural-born hunter.

On the way home (or the way there) we always stop in Colby at the Oasis, and Nicole and I always have a good time with their turbo hand dryers. I finally got her to put her face under it after many trips of begging. It was tooootally worth it.
To top it all off, the Rockies needed to win their game yesterday to make it into the playoffs. We watched some of it at Liquid Bread Brewing Company in Hays while eating dinner, but it went into 5 extra innings for a grand total of 14 innings. But in the end we won 9-8 so we're going to the playoffs!!!!! What an amazing weekend.
The last five days (Friday-Tuesday) Me and the Moms have been in Manhattan and St. Louis. We stayed the first night in Manhattan (when we ate at Houlihans.) Then the next morning it was off to St. Louis, MO! Shannon kicked it off right, of course with help from Lil D. Nicole was obviously most excited for the games. While Jenette seemed more focused in on the Cinnamon Life. Daddy came along, which was a good time since we didn't get to see him for Christmas, and a long time before then. If you watch the video a couple times, you'll see that Shannon scored a goal! A couple actually, this was the only one I got on film though.
They tied their first game and lost the second, but everyone did play very well this weekend. Also, some very exciting news, Shannon got MVP for the season! And look who freakin got Most Improved. That's right, Shane "Bambi on Ice" Eslit. Nicely done boys. (ps. that's Jerry their coach on the left. He's 90.) After the hockey-ness, we came back to Manhattan. Chris didn't come to St. Louis with us, so it was good that we got to hang with him after a time. On monday Rhonda and I went to the KSU campus and visited a couple departments. Everyone was really nice, and I think for now I'm sticking with the Political Science and Pre-Law with a minor in Dance. Today we visited the dance department then came home. But not before we looked for prom dresses. Because Aj asked me to prom this morning. And I. Am. Excited.
