Soo Birthday Week

Tuesday's event was Birthday Breakfast. We had breakfast casserole that Amanda and I made that actually turned out (we were a little unsure of what it meant to make a breakfast casserole. Pulled it off though, OJ, coffee, choc chip muffins and bumble pancakes, of course! Along with the roommates, Tyler Ediger, Whit, Geoff, and Joel came. Pretty good turn out for 7 am :) I also found out that evening that I got a 100% on my first Chemistry exam. Thank you birthday week miracles.
Wednesday's event of Ultimate Frisbee didn't work out so hot, because turns out at in February, it gets dark and cold at 6:30. It wasn't a very good day (I was really tired from having a 7:30 am recitation), so I think Kerri gave me my present earlier than she planned. This beautiful bible! I
Thursday it snowed a ton and I took my first physics exam. I don't know my score yet, but I fear I didn't do as well as I did on my first test of the week. But it's over. That night Andre and I perfomed in Dancing with the Kstate Stars! You can watch our video here. You should check out the rest of the videos from the show too, the whole thing was really awesome.
Friday was Classy Dinner on the town. We chose Olive Garden, it doesn't get much classier than over eating the appetizers and drinking endless amounts of peach tea!
Saturday Amanda dyed Deidre's and my hair, kind of on a whim. It's only semi-permanent though. Something different, gotta keep things interesting. We had ice cream cake, went two-steppin, and then I turned 23!

...and then I stayed up til 5:30 a.m. posting things about birthday week all over the internet.(I think it might be because of the sudafed I had to start taking AGAIN because I might be getting sick AGAIN.) To see the rest of the pictures from the week, go see the Facebook album.

Put your feet on my face

Sunday Simon and I tried to go to a hockey game in Milton Keynes vs Guildford. It started out alright, look how excited we were!

But after much walking around the city, we couldn't find the rink. So we just came home...oh...
Oh well. Bo and I watched the Oscars, my favorite was the dancing during the "Best Score" category. I almost died watching them! So great.

He and I also watched Nine yesterday and made stir fry tonight, and it was hella good (Both. Nine just wasn't what I had expected. The stir fry, however, was everything I could have ever wanted). It was so nice to eat real cooking with fresh ingredients! Mmmmm. Then Alex, Megan and I (and maybe Kaitlyn?) booked our second week of Easter Break trips to France!! Nice for about two days then Paris over a long weekend. Can you dig it? Because I sure can. I'm super excited about that number. Last week Nicole, Hanna, Sarah, and I booked our week long tour in Ireland for the first week of break. Needless to say, I may sleep for a few days after break. It sounds exhausting/brilliant.

For the best part (because it's the closest), I'm leaving for Switzerland in 12 hours! Michael (from the hockey team last year) is picking me up from the train station and then Thursday morning I'm meeting Geoff in Zurich! Oh my gosh, I can't tell you how excited I am to see good friends :) You'll hear my tweets whilst I'm abroad. Laterrrrrrrr....


*I ate a whole package of Bourbon Cream cookies today. They are soooo good. Totally worth having a heart attack in 15 years, too*

Why is a Raven like Billy Idol?

Friday two big things happened:

I saw Alice In Wonderland
which I enjoyed. I'd recommend going into it not thinking at all about all the other Alice in Wonderlands you may have seen and read.

Also, Megs, Alex and I dressed up 80s style...We thought it was an 80s night, but...it wasn't. I didn't mind though, who DIDN'T love the 80s?

Plus now I have a new respect for how those ladies kept their hair so huge during that decade. I used half a can of hair spray and I was flat by the middle of the night!

22s son!

I turned 22 this last Saturday! Here's how birthday week went:

Monday: As you may recall, class got canceled due to less than an inch of snow.
Tuesday: I was working out and Friends came on.
Wednesday: Went bowling with Hanna, Nicole, Sarah, and her flatmates. (I got second in our lane both games :)
Thursday: Not much
Friday: Went to St. Albans all by myself to do a little shopping, it's a nice way to center myself. And to get sweet birthday deals at H&M <3


Saturday the girls met me outside my flat and Nicole gave me gifts of a blueberry cupcake and a housecoat! (I'd been wanting one since I got here)







We then went to see Stonehenge:
And then to the city of Bath. Such a gorgeous city!

It's where the Roman Baths are housed. That water has never been changed...

We also listened to the choir sing in the Bath Abbey, it was really awesome. (This was part of the architecture on the outside of the church, the angels were climbing up a ladder that lead to heaven)
And then. Then it was time to get down for the double deuce. Yeah Birthdays!! Aww friends :)

He took a real piss out of it

I think that either means he thought it was funny, or he made fun of it. Sometimes context clues don't help that much.

Last night we (Nic, Sarah, Hanna, Coral, Megan, Tim--Sarah's flatmate--and his friends Lee and Alex)went to the Forum. You know, imagine that. We danced, same old story. Still lots of fun but I feel like these must be beginning to sound the same.

Left an hour early though so Nicole and I could get some sleep before Windsor Castle this morning.

Dance duel for love

We went out to Bonk last night at the Forum (that's when they play music from the Top 40), kind of a big night there. A girl in line sold me her spare ticket for 3.60 rather than me paying 5 pounds, I'll take it! I mean, I took it!

We went again with Hanna and Sarah and her flatmates, plus Dan and Tim (I hope by now you've defaulted to "we" meaning "Nicole and I"). And we met up with Alex, Megan, and Coral! Plus the trivia team, gosh darn it I love the friends I've met this far :) Just LOOK at Sarah dance!
They had a fire alarm around 1:30 am, so we all had to go outside without our coats! Ahh it was freeeezing. The boys made a wall around us though, bless their hearts. x

I also got a hair cut today, drastically shorter, but still not that short. HUGE pile of hair on the ground though. I don't get how all this is still left!

This is the Melbourne Shuffle. I'm not entirely sure how it differs from HardStyle, except it looks like you need crazy striped pants and bright suspenders for this one. About a minute in is where it gets crazy.

Saturday afternoon I got to Skype during Nette and Nicole's baby shower at Irene's :) I'm glad I atleast got to be a bit of there.

Saturday night Nic, Hannah, Sara, and I went out to the forum with three of Sara's flatmates. And Simon, my flatmate, found us! (The one on the far right) Doesn't he look like Rod Flanders?? I would say he looks it more once you since him IRL, but when he talks he sounds like Ron Weasley! What a celeb.
Baio from Vampire Weekend was DJing...I didn't hear any Vampire Weekend songs but I guess it was still pretty cool. That night was alot of fun and a LOT of dancing, which gets a definite two thumbs up from this gal.

And then there was Sunday night. Ooooh Super Bowl Sunday night. After trivia, of course, we had to re-enter the Elehouse in order to pay the cover. Virage really took one for the team and saved us great seats and we watched the Saints do what a large portion of NFL plans were hoping they would. That game was seriously good for the soul. WHO DAT!

It was so much fun watching the game there, everyone got really into it. All of us in our group were going for the Saints, so you can imagine. But the real treat was the in between coverage of Cecil Martin's face and some british guy talking very broadly and vaguely about the game. Oh Cecil, as if the Super Bowl wasn't already special enough :)

This afternoon I got into my cupboard and my flatmate Meera had left me some cookies called Jaffa Cakes. VERY sweet gesture...but they aren't very good :S It's ok, she said it herself. Apparently it was one of those nostalgia things that gets ruined when you grow up and realize that bubblegum ice cream is awful. But gosh darnit that was nice of her!

For my Conditioning practical(lab) we basically had PE. Stood in lines and two or five at a time did lunges across a gym, grapevines and what have you.

Nic and I ate dinner with Dan, Virage, Tim, and Bo tonight then I came home to do laundry. And by do laundry, I mean get it (my clothes AND all my sheets) into the dryer and have to wait til morning because the place closes at 10 for the night. O.M.G. I should really just get more sleep, I feel that would solve many problems.

We had our final performances of our choreography projects today, and tomorrow is the last day. SAD. By far the best class I've ever taken in college.

What were you doing at 1 am Saturday? Because I was dancing with Syrians in the IHOP parking lot after Nette, Chris, and I got a late night snack.

Also after Chris and I frosted his tips and bleached my bangs.
Fun night, ending with watching/falling asleep to Rounders around 3 am-ish. Then bright and early at 9 am I went to a car wash for the Tap Ensemble.

Unfortunately it started raining and we had to cut it an hour short, but we made a good amount of money! Today we went to a bunch of thrift stores and got all sorts of fun things. Thank you summertime!

I keep my hands in my lap

SpringDance '09 is OVER! It was a really good show (I feel) and I think it went over well for everyone.
And then I hit a deer Friday night. So, you know...that too.
I was on the way out to Nette's after getting ice cream with Coleman, Geoff, and Ryan (who came to SpringDance, along with Scott who had to leave early) and the little guy got in front of me faster than I could break, so I hit him and he flipped around to the side and knocked out the passenger window. Very scary, not a fun night. Also, probably not a fun phone call for the parents I would imagine. (Daddy came up with Shannon and Nicole to see the show). So we're awaiting news from the insurance to see what will happen next with that.

BUT the important thing is everyone is ok...except the deer and my car. And rehearsals are over :) And I got to see and dance for the family.

And so tech week begins...and is almost over. SpringDance is THIS Friday and Saturday people!

Mommy came up this weekend and that was just a great time :)

I also had a performance on Saturday in my friend Dean's senior percussion recital. Autumn choreographed the piece, it was to a song called "Balaphuge" by Kevin Bobo played on the marimba.

It was pretty cool, and now I'm done with it and it's rehearsals! Dean's whole concert was sweet though, I'm really happy for him :)

Not feed, not hay

I so badly want to break into the childrens literature scene.

My finals are done! I ended up keeping my C in Japanese, and I got a collective 86% on my Kin final, leaving me with an 88%. There was talk of a curve though...I hope Dr. Harms does the right thing.

Last Friday our apt opened our stockings and made gingerbread houses...well, the couples did, Sara, myself, and guest appearance Clavin were judges. Everyone got fun things, but Jim (Kerri's boyfriend) got a punching balloon! All good times until it hit a cup and spilled watered down soda onto my lappy. Luckily they turned it upside down quickly and we left a fan blowing on it for two days. Five days later I turned it back on and it works! Huzzah! And for the folk that didn't get the point of my story, here's a picture of the winning house by Kerri and Jim to hold you over until the next picture.
Catch up? Ok! Way way back Clavin and I went to see Casey Donahew at Longhorns, it was such an awesome show!!
The team played an all-night tournament in Wichita with an encore by Shannon and Nicole! It was a roller-coaster of super fun and "why was this a good idea?". They played pretty well, better than their somehow 5th out of 8th place though. I don't know if I would necessarily do it again, but something has to keep those boys on their toes.
Thanksgiving was a break VERY much needed, atleast in my neck of the woods. This picture essentially was natural until Mommy tweaked it a bit to be more pleasing to the camera's eye. Big time for me, this was the Thanksgiving I got to "be upstairs" with the "big kids". And I made sure the little ankle-biters knew it. Not. Invited. They can't drive Buicks anyway.
I danced in WinterDance '08 and girl let me tell you, one of the pieces I was in made front page Collegian!
One day of a break after those 4 nights of dress rehearsal and 4 performances, Micheal Wieser and I performed a piece we choreographed together in Student Spotlight to "Hide and Seek" by Imogen Heap.

And with a lot of details left out, here we are now. I need to finish Christmas shopping, and will be going home on Friday. Our family is doing Christmas in Tulsa, I want to go to Denver sometime, go back to Tulsa to hang sometime, and am coming back to Manhattan for New Years in Aggieville with Eve 6!!

I'll probably go to sleep now, but not before I post this video Derek in my Japanese class told me about.

This weekend was incredible, in a different sense than the last couple have been.

Friday, I went to a party at Coleman's but left pretty quick. It wasn't my scene. Then I went to a party my friend Katy was at in possibly the coolest house in Manhattan. You climbed a chain ladder into the attic, and then literally crawled through a hole in the corner to come out in a room like Rapunzel must have lived in. It was freakin killer. But then I left that party because I'm coming to the realization that I just really don't care about meeting a bunch of drunk people and making petty conversation with them. So I came home and fell asleep on the couch watching Get Smart with Sara and her boyfriend. It was funny from what I saw. I'll pick the rest up later.

Saturday I slept in then choreographed a dance to Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap with Michael Weiser for student spotlight (December 8--FREE!). He was pretty impressive in his artistic vision.

Later that evening Kerri, Sara, and I went to church where we met Clavin. Came home, ate delicious delicious roast that Kerri made, and parked it on the glider chair, Sara on the couch. There we remained, Sara falling in and out of sleep, me smelling candle samples, watching the Presidential bash, and texting Clavin about being in the NHL, until about 11 when Sara went to bed and I set up camp on the couch with my electric blanket. From there I watched Good Will Hunting on tv and continued texting late into the night.

I partially remember waking up at 10 this morning to eat some cereal, then slept again on the couch. I finally got off the couch this afternoon at 3, after fully waking while watching football. I went to the rec, did laundry, talked to Mommy for an hour (God bless the crap out of her, I love her), and watched Ailey videos until I came home and wrote a very long post that I'm sure no one really cares to read. No pictures, sorry kids. Not a whole lot to photograph from the couch.

They love tap they love tap they love tap

This is Julie, my Jazz and Tap teacher, and also the coordinator for the KSU Tap Ensemble. She's improving while her husband Neil plays some live music.

(It's not like they just sit around and make dance videos, they were making a tap comp. video and this was just the uncut portion of part of it :)
They were making the video for a talk the Tap Ensemble would give before the Savion Glover show Bare Sounds here at McCain on November 1st. This year was the first I'd ever heard of Savion, but I quickly learned he's a big deal in the Tap World. He kind of got his first big break on Sesame Street (which I never watched as a kid).

Yeah, BA right? Then I found out he was Happy Feet.

And this is him now. Everyone here said the show was incredible. Don't get me wrong, I had the time of my life in St. Louis this weekend...it just would have been nice to see this too :)

It came to me in a dream

I don't want y'all to think I'm boring because I post juuust about once a week now. Actually, my life has become quite eventful. I'm officially in the dance I was an understudy for, which is a modern piece inspired by the works of Salvador Dali. If you haven't look at much of his work, you may want to. Kid was craaaazy.
But this means that I rehearse for an hour and a half every day, on top of dance classes and regular classes, I squeeze in work when I can , and I study a ton (like, don't hang out during the week) and get 57s on my Japanese tests. Yup, life is poppin.
Kerri's been quite ill for the past couple of days, so me and my body are fightin that little number off like crazy.
Patriots and the Giants went to the Super Bowl this last Sunday which I'm sure you're aware of. The Patriots...lost? I know, I don't understand it either. It's too bad they couldn't get a perfect season.
This weekend we're heading to St. Louis for a hockey tournament, should be a good time as usual!
